Our Mission—Serving Those Who’ve Served |

PLEASE HELP US HONOR THE FALLEN
This will be a run like no other!
Lance Cpl. Jeremy Kane was a student at Rutgers-Camden studying Criminal Justice and Political Science. He had joined the Marine Reservists on September 11, 2006 because “he felt that every American had the duty to give back to his country.”
When his Reserve Unit was activated for deployment, Jeremy was hesitant leaving his mother behind, as Jeremy’s father recently passed away from stomach cancer. Shedding his reluctance, Jeremy Kane deployed with enthusiasm because he knew it was the right thing to do. For this, Jeremy Kane made the ultimate sacrifice for his family, and country.
We will all run to raise a monument for Jeremy Kane, and other students and graduates of Rutgers who have also sacrificed their lives in the interest of our protection. We ask that you join us April 25, 2010 to celebrate the fact that such heroes have not passed, but lived.
How You Can Join Us: Veterans for Education will be coordinating a 2-mile run in the interest of raising money for a memorial commemorating Jeremy Kane, and other students/graduates who have been sacrificed in Iraq or Afghanistan. The run will consist of two main bodies. |

|
The first many body will consist of the formation run for veterans/servicemembers, and will be conducted per military standard. This is due to its answer to the general public’s interest in military discipline and procedures. This run will culminate with each individual representing his/her branch of service (Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard) as 1 of 5 platoons, making up 1 Company. Each branch of service platoon will be required to provide a bearer for your respective branch of service guidon. This run will be at an estimated pace of 9 minute miles. |
|
The second main body will be a non-timed release movement. Participants can run, or walk. The release movement will be located to the rear of the veteran’s formation. We encourage all disabled veterans and civilians to run/walk with us in Jeremy’s honor.
All runners in both formations will be encouraged to get at least one sponsor to assist in raising money for the OIF/OEF Memorial. |
|
The Run
The run will begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp at Cherry Hill East High School. Once the run begins, we will have Cherry Hill police/fire vehicles leading the run and blocking off traffic. The run will end at M’Kor Shalom Synagogue (Jeremy’s place of worship) where a ceremony for Jeremy, as well as other students/graduates of Rutgers who have fallen will take place. Water will be provided, as well as an ambulance on standby. At the end of the run, a shuttle bus will be provided to transport participants conveniently back to their vehicles at Cherry Hill East High School parking lot.
So come on! Get in better shape this summer for an awesome cause. Run with us! |
