August/September 2010

Dear Friends and Supporters:

Despite the oppressive heat, there were no summer doldrums at OCP.  To the contrary, August continued a trend of exciting new endeavors and collaborations.

108th NJ Air National Guard Refueling Wing Visit

We had the chance to really get to know the great folks over at the 108th NJANG Refueling Wing this month, see more about the 108th, here.  First, I had the opportunity to witness some of the magnificent cutting-edge training our brave new soldiers go through early in their enlistment.  On August 15th, we headed on over to the 108th Family Day and had some great fun meting and greeting past and present members, and families, of the Wing.  Despite yet another hot and humid day, and a few sprinkles, the energy was infectious throughout the afternoon.  OCP raffled off an OCP polo and a monogrammed chair to winners:  Bjorn Fecher and Robert Slocum.  Thanks to Lt. Col. Stephen Henske, 108 FSS Commander, for announcing the winners and to our gracious host, MSgt. Francisco Beltram-Bell.  See Photos of the 108th here.

OCP Field Guide

As you probably know, OCP has published an “OCP Field Guide” for veterans and service providers.  The original version, now in its first reprint, featured New Jersey-specific assets and programs to assist servicemembers in their transition to civilian life.  We’re happy to report that the “Guide” will go national this fall with an extended nation-wide version of the publication.  Print copies will be distributed by request and the online version will be available on both the American Council on Education (ACE) site, as well as the OCP site.  OCP would like to thank Jim Selbe from ACE for his assistance in making this a reality and also to Louis Martini at Thomas Edison for supporting the distribution of the national “Guide” to military installation education offices.
