Thomas Edison State University has been providing specialized educational opportunities for members of the United States military for more than 35 years and is one of the largest providers of higher education programs to active duty military personnel in the country.

The College continues to play a pioneering role in the development of degree programs specifically for enlisted personnel that optimize military training and experience.  The College is also recognized as a national leader serving military students with regionally accredited degree and certificate programs.

Today, more than 9,000 active duty military personnel are enrolled at Thomas Edison State University, including thousands who are presently deployed around the world.

The College is a long-standing member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) and is a SOC Network member institution.  The College also holds a Memorandum of Understanding with Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) as an external degree partner.

In 2007, Thomas Edison State College and McGuire Air Force Base launched a pilot program designed to help military personnel prepare for overseas deployments through courses on Islam, the Middle East, other world cultures and religions, and diversity.  The program, which is scheduled to be expanded to Fort Dix, was launched to help make active duty military personnel more culturally aware of the regions in which they are engaged.

Military Advanced Education magazine recently named Thomas Edison State University as one of the country's top ten schools for members of the United States military.  In addition, the College was honored by the New Jersey Senate for its work serving its military students.
